An attitude of Gratitude

Two times a year instead of going to church on Sunday we have what is called General Conference.
It is a world wide broadcast from Salt Lake City, Utah for the entire world.
Because we don't have cable TV we watched it via the web.
There were many many different topics
some of which were-
Protecting the Family
Service
Gaining your own testimony
Being an example of the believers
The Priesthood
The Holy Ghost
Protecting our Children
Addictions
and many many more.
One of my favorites was by the Prophet,
President Thomas S. Monson
The Attitude of Gratitude

Do we remember to give thanks for the blessings we receive?
Are we living in Thanksgiving Daily?

President Monson said,
The things we can not buy are the things we are most grateful for.
Our family, friends, health.
Sadly, they are also the things we often take for granted.

We were also encouraged to 'take inventory of our many blessings.'

I've thought a lot about this lately.
We have a lot to be grateful for.
The last few days, I've been especially grateful for my family.
My parents, brothers and sisters, my inlaws, my Grandparents, and our friends that have become family.

I'm especially grateful to be a wife and mother.
We feel so blessed that our loving Heavenly Father has entrusted us with these two beautiful children.

I've been trying to spend more 'time' with my kids.
I spend all day every day with them, but I want it to be more quality time.

This morning we decorated for Halloween.
(as I wrote that I just heard one of our decorations fall!)

It was very fun!
They both loved it!
Julia decorated our tombstone.
It's a fancy one... diamonds and all.

Kevin did the rest!

Here is our very own haunted forest.

Here are our artists, dressed in their finest!

I had to do an up close of a few.
I was very impressed with Kevin's drawing.
He's learned so much in preschool.
He told me that ghost needed a mouth and teeth.
Aren't those good teeth?
(This was his first really detailed drawing yet! Usually he'd draw something by accident and then tell me, Look Mom it's a spider, cuz it kinda looked like one!)
Anyway, I was proud of him!

Julia also did some very nice coloring, gluing, and diamond work!

When I decided to spend more 'time' with my kids. I thought it would be a lot of work.
It was actually a lot of fun and really easy. The hardest part for me was just letting the kids create...
The greatest reward is to see how excited the kids are to have their work displayed in the house.

Next up...
Ghosts to hang in our front tree!

I'm very grateful that I get to stay home with my kids. I know there are many many many women who would love to have the opportunity.
So...
I'm going to make the most of it!

You are an incredible mom! Your post last week really struck a cord with me. I have been trying to keep our house cleaner and more organized lately and it really consumes ALL my time! I love the decorations...maybe I'll copy you and let Cruz do some decorating of him own! Love ya girl!
