My Mommy went home. Sad day in the neighborhood. So sad that Kevin even had a good cry over it. His exact words were, “Why did Granny leave us? It isn’t fair!” I agree 100%. It isn’t fair!!
Granny did a LOT of nice things for us while she was here. Two of those nice things were 1-leaving my fridge stocked with 5 different ice cream treats and 2 a big bag of crushed ice.
Since her departure, I have enjoyed a nice cold fudge bar during nap time and several tall glasses of ice water with crushed ice through out the day. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. (and since it is currently nap time, I just licked my stick clean and am now enjoying my ice water!)
We jumped in full boar to real life yesterday. I thought I was doing 2 hair cuts and 1 color yesterday morning but it turned into 5 hair cuts and 2 colors, which made for a busy morning. After I was finished I rewarded the kids (and myself) with happy meals (large dr. Pepper) and a trip to the park. Lacey had a rude awakening to what her life really holds.
Once she realized she wasn’t going to be cuddled by Mommy all day long she quickly adjusted and we had a VERY successful and fun first day. (Don’t worry, she was held and cuddled all afternoon. My day wouldn’t be complete without a cat nap with the baby on my chest! Ahh, the joys of being a Mommy! I love it!)
Another fabulous gift from Granny…
Lacey ended up with horrible jaundice. I wish you could have seen my surprised face. (If you look in the previous post, you will see how purple her face is, no it is not due to the lack of oxygen, it is due to the abundance of bruising.) She ended up being on the light blanket and bilibed for 5 days.
The gift from Granny, no it wasn’t the bilibed, 2 nights before she left, she stayed awake the entire night so that Lacey could stay in the bili bed all night. It did the trick and we were able to ditch the bed and the blanket. Why did Granny stay awake all night you ask. Well, our little Lacey is a wiggle worm. In the picture you can see she is right next to the edge of the bed. Well, that’s not where she started, she’d start against the other edge and with in a short time she’d roll over to this edge and suck her face up against the window or the pad. There is also a blanket shield to screen her face. She’d rip it down every few minutes. Speaking of rolling. The little gem rolled all the way onto her belly this morning when I was trying to change her diaper.
This is probably the greatest gift ever.
Lacey has already enjoyed her first mini pedi. She loved it! (And I loved pampering her! After all, She was sporting 2 black eyes, who wouldn’t love cute toes!)
Tyrel Julia loved having Granny here. She needed Granny the most out of all of us. The poor girl, who acts just like her Uncle Tyrel did when he was younger, needed the undivided attention that Granny could give.
Cody’s department at work sent us this gorgeous flower arrangement and fruit basket. I <3 it!
I had big plans for entertaining the family while they were here, but since we were stuck at home on the bili bed we had to find entertaining things to do.
Kevin, Granny, Julia, and Jordin made delicious sugar cookies.
I wouldn’t let the kids go to bed or Granny leave until we had some pictures in our signature spot on the couch.
Granny, thank you thank you thank you. We will never be able to repay you. It was so nice to not have to worry about the kids.
And now that Lacey is looking normal (and I am too) we couldn’t leave for church until we had a new family picture.
Julia was insistent that the toothbrush be in every picture!
We made it to church with 10 minutes to spare! yay!! We start the opening song and my Milk comes in… totally forgot nursing pads. I darted out of church as quick as could be and left Cody with 3 kids. I was fast and he survived… Just one of those things you don’t think about until its too late…
Cody was home the entire time my Mom was here. It was LOVELY. I wish he could be home all the time. Turns out we like to be together. While he was home he installed a new sliding door. LOVE IT! and he took down our fence in the back yard. LOVE IT MORE!
Our yard seems to much bigger and for the first time in 2 years we had a fire with the kids and actually sat out and enjoyed it. We cooked hot dogs for dinner. Kevin loved it. and to be honest, there wasn’t a better way to end the week.
The fire was a little warm so Fire Chief C-Dawg had to cool it off before we could get close enough to cook our dogs.
Eating outside was a huge hit. (Notice Julia ate her hot dog in the same fashion as corn on the cob!)
August is special month for us. It was in August of 2006 that Cody and I met for the first time. It was also in August that we decided to get married. We closed on our first home in August of 2009 (can’t believe it’s been 2 years) and now we’ve welcomed a very sweet little girl into our lives.
We feel very blessed.
I’m sad to see August go. I love this month and I look forward to it next year!
