Proud Parents

**Warning, Mommy bragging moment!**
We decided on Sunday before the kids went to bed that we wanted to help them start to memorize some scriptures. Our first choice, John 14:15.
On Sunday we worked with the kids for about 10 minutes on it. On Monday we said it once in the car and then on Monday night for family home evening we were going to work on it again. But it went a little more like this…
OK, can you guys remember the scripture we practiced?
Cody repeated the scripture and Julia shouted, No, I DO IT MINE SELF!
Kevin interrupted and said the scripture by memory and then Julia said again, NO, I DO IT MINE SELF! and she too said the scripture by memory.
We then asked Kevin what the scripture meant and he said, “It is Jesus talking to us and telling us that if we love him we keep the commandments, like use nice words, and be nice to Mommies and Daddies!”
We are pretty proud of our little peanuts.

My do-it-mine-self girl sometimes puts things on a little weird.

And sometimes, she picks out her own ward robe and insists on wearing it JUST LIKE THIS.

My, Do-It-Mine-Self Hubby and I,  (ok, mostly the hubby, he wouldn’t let me help very much! Once all the yuckies were removed I did help a little more and I did drill a few screws into the wall) and our neighbor friend helped for a few hours too. Tore off the siding around our chimney, fixed, the chimney, replaced the window, and all the insulation, and then re hung all of the plywood, and put house wrap up. This weekend, we will re hang the siding. In a couple of weeks someone is coming to help us install the new sliding door and then we will be able to paint the last of our blue house tan and brown!  I’m excited!

The chimney/fireplace had clearly been leaking for years. Our friendly squirrels that were taking up residence here the first part of the summer didn’t help out much either. But now all the old wood is replaced with new, and all the yuck-i-ness is long gone. And the squirrels can no longer climb in through the chimney, their little access whole here has been fixed. Proud of the husband and all of his awesomeness.

I saw the title of this post and thought, "Hooray! Lacey is here!" a little disappointed, but then I read how cute your current kids are and it was all better :)
