Happy Halloween People! We started our week by carving pumpkins on Monday.
Kevin and Julia were super excited until it came time to pull out the guts. EWWWW they wouldn’t even ENTERTAIN the idea of touching it. I couldn’t even convince Kevin to pick up a stray seed that landed on the floor.
Cody and Kevin partnered up and Julia and I worked together. Cody and Kev opted for power tools and a squirrel. I did it the old fashioned way and carved whatever Julia wanted.
Did you know that Cody and I LOVE taking family pictures with the camera set on a timer. We do.. and we’re getting pretty good at it. It’s getting to where we get it on the first take! Go us!
Wednesday started us off on our Halloween gear. It was a rough start for Julia. Kevin was set on the dragon with a green face and climbed right into his costume and waited patiently for his turn for face paint. Julia changed her costume 8 times, she went from a bumble bee to a skeleton to a princess and back and forth and back and forth. When she finally settled on the princess we did her hair and make up, snapped a few pictures and ran out the door before she could change her mind again. The second we stepped outside she broke down in sobs… But I wanted to be a SKELLLLLLLLETON! I said sorry lady and buckled her in the car. We are out of the car and running into story time when Kevin stops DEAD in his tracks and says in the saddest voice EVER, “Oh no Mommy, I pooped my pants… I never do that!” Half way between the car and the library, dressed as a dragon is a horrible time to get the runs. We RAN to the bathroom as quickly as we could and made it into story time with a sigh of relief and only a few minutes late.
Last night Lacey was my little helper in the kitchen. She was talking away and the next thing I know she was dead asleep in the bumbo.
Last night Cody also hung our Harley drawing. A couple of years ago I asked Cody’s Mom to draw it for him as a surprise. She brought it to us when she came to visit this last time. I LOVE how it turned out and it definitely puts the finishing touch on our dining room!
Today was the 2nd go around of costumes. Cody and I decided awhile ago that we were going to forego birthday parties for our kids, but that we’d host 2 parties a year for our kids, just not on their birthdays. This year we did Valentines and Halloween. So, today was the Halloween party at our house. Kevin wanted to be the dragon again. Julia was insistent that she get herself ready, she was a skeleton, on the back side anyway. Lacey, she got dressed when I wanted her to and sat right down and smiled for pictures when I wanted her to.
She almost cried once.
But then Mommy got super funny! (Did you know that Lacey has a crazy tongue? She plays with it ALL the time and it is SUPER long! She ALSO has super d duper curly hair. When it’s wet, like in this picture, it is so curly it sticks to her head in little circles!)
The dragon, the backwards skeleton, and the ballerina.
Lacey is so easy to get smiles from. It makes my day.
Lame I know, but there were 13 Moms and 30 kids at our party today, this is the ONLY (crappy) picture I got, and it doesn’t even have all the kids in it.
Each kid decorated a few Halloween shaped sugar cookies, made a trick-or-treat bag, played with our toys, and of course we ended the party trick-or-treating to all the Moms! It was ciaos, but super fun ciaos!!
Tonight was supposed to be round 3 for Halloween costumes at our ward Halloween party, but my children did the unthinkable and were grounded. SO, tomorrow is round 4 for Preschool. And… it doesn’t end there. Sunday is round 5 and Monday round 6. That’s right people, we are crazy when it comes to Halloween!!!!!
