Thursday Morning we were awoken by a crazy band consisting of Kevin, J.D., Madie, and Julia playing the drums, tambourine, maracas, and xylophone.
Apparently trying to put a 4 year old off early Thanksgiving morning is not such a good idea. Especially if he has J.D. for an uncle. After being serenaded Cody and I jumped out of bed and before we could do ANYTHING else the Birthday boy got to opening!
The lucky dog got his very own tool set with a tool box. Like a real tool set that we got a steal of a deal on. It was probably the best present we’ve ever purchased. Ok, so maybe the BEST WORST present we’ve ever bought. You see, it will keep him entertained for HOURS, but if I don’t watch closely enough he is trying to remodel my house. Thankfully it has been pretty warm out and he has spent several hours out in the woods hammering, cutting, sawing, you name it. And when it is too cold, he brought in a bunch of boxes from the garage and they have all been cut, hammered, and reconstructed. We also gave him a 1x2 that he has successfully installed a door hinge and a hook on.
Thanks to everyone who sent gifts and called. It made for a very special day.
Minutes after opening his golf clubs Cody and Kevin were out the door to go golfing. I didn’t even make Kevin get dressed. He was in heaven… golfing in his P.J.s. Who wouldn’t love that!
The coolest thing about these clubs, the card said for Kevin to practice up and Grandpa Kevin would take him golfing this summer. Looks like we have guests coming…RIGHT? I hope so.
Cody has rightfully titled this clip, The Golf Pro.
We love having J.D. and Ashlynn so close. We are grateful that they made the trip down/over to come and spend Kevin’s birthday/Thanksgiving with us.
I told Cody and J.D. that if they would take a picture with me on the couch that I’d let us eat Thanksgiving dinner in front of the TV! They were more then happy to oblige and I was more then happy to not have many dishes to wash!!!
Just after we finished eating the kids woke up from their naps. Kevin had ZERO interest in eating Turkey, so we got out his birthday cake and he had cake instead.
In years past I have always made the kids a special birthday treat, we have had cake pops, a fire truck cake, a car track cake, a jet ski cake, and cup cake ice cream cones, but for Kevin’s birthday, he REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted a cake from the bakery at Walmart. Since his birthday fell on Thanksgiving this year and we really aren’t big cake eaters I decided to grant his wish. (and have since decided that we will be doing this every year!)
Kevin and I went on a special date on Tuesday night to pick out his birthday cake. He was SO.MUCH.FUN! I didn’t want the night to end. He talked my ear off and it was so fun to give him 100% of my attention. While we were out he told me quite a few funny things, one being, “Mom, I pick my nose and eat it, but it’s not bad for me, It’s just like eating seeds! It’s kind of healfy.” I almost died… I don’t know if I was gagging or laughing! It was super funny anyway.
And he also told me a few really sweet things. One being that he hopes I never ever have to go to work because, “Mom, I would miss you so bad!” Not going to lie, a little tear spilled over. I needed to hear that from this little rascal.
Kevin at 4 is a ball of fun. He is always going (which results in him either crashing in the middle of the day for a good 3 hours or falling into bed around 6:30 at night barely able to say goodnight!) a few of his favorite things
-PROJECTS, it can be cooking, crafting, cleaning, painting, coloring, gluing, building… he LOVES PROJECTS!
-Preschool- Although I think he is ready for Kindergarten. (EEK, I can’t believe I register him in February!) He loves structure and two days a week isn’t quite enough for this learning machine.
-Motorcycles- (does that even need an explanation?!)
His current favorite color is black and green.
He loves Milk.
And he is our family peace maker.
Oh and one more thing that I love about this man… he is an AWESOME cleaner. He knows how to clean, I can send him in his room or down to the play room and he cleans until it is spotless. He takes so much pride in his work too. So much that I have to beg him to sleep under his covers after he has made his bed.
We love you Tio Guapo. We are very honored to be your parents and we hope we can raise you to your fullest potential!!!
The next thing that MUST be documented…
Lacey’s first PIG TAILS! (I swear Julia was 18 months old before we did this!) I haven’t wanted to put ponies in the baby’s hair because I was worried it would make her grow up… and I was right, and so… she wont be wearing them again any time soon. She is already growing too fast, I don’t want to speed it up AT all!
We had such a fun weekend. We ran our poor kids ragged. Doing what? ABSOULTELY Nothing! Well, nothing to really write about. We didn’t leave our house from Wednesday until Saturday afternoon. It was LOVELY!!! We haven’t spent that much time at home in…ever?!? We decorated our Christmas tree, watched a few movies together, made Christmas shaped pancakes for dinner,
did some tummy time and practiced rolling to our back,
we made these super yummy potatoes
practiced sitting up,
had a slumber party in our new teepee from Aunt Ashlynn and Uncle J.D.,
and passed out on the couch,
and on the floor.
It was truly a LOVELY Thanksgiving weekend.
I was reminded again and again of all the wonderful things I have to be thankful for and I’m glad I spent it with my 4 favorite people at the top of my list.
ALSO- Before I run off to other things… I’m down 10 LBS this month…I feel much better and am happy we decided to eat healthier and be healthier. Here’s to a few more LBS!!!
PEACE
