This last weekend was paaaarty weekend. On Friday night Cody, Lacey, and I went out to dinner with 2 friends of ours. We filled our selves to the ROOF with delicious wings. Oh they were G.O.O.D. I’m a sucker for a good wing. MMM.MMMM!
On Saturday night we got together with 3 other couples in our neighborhood for a progressive dinner. It was so nice to get to know our neighbors better. We had a really good time. I was doing dessert. We had apple, cherry, and oatmeal pie with ice cream. It was delicious.
On Friday Cody surprised me by telling me that he had taken Monday off of work and that we were going to go on a little family vacay for my birthday. Sunday morning we headed out first thing to Lake Mills. Cody had to teach Sunday School and Young Womens for a Ward Conference. As soon as he was finished we drove the last 30 or so minutes to Madison.
For Lacey’s six month birthday she went swimming for the first time. (I have a ton more adorable pictures of the kids all together in their suits, but they are on Cody’s phone! I’ll post more later.) She LOVED it. I love seeing her in this suit. For my birthday 2 years ago we went to Indiana. I have a cute picture of Julia in the same suit just a few months older.
Lacey at 6 months- -She enjoys her food, her newest flavors, Mac N Cheese, French Fries, Spaghetti, Animal crackers, and ritz crackers, and of course, all the fruits and veggies. She doesn’t seem to favor one over the other. She’s always happy to eat and always eats well. –Her acid reflux is letting up. She hasn’t had any meds in about a week. She’ll spit up occasionally, but it is in very normal quantities. –She rolls all over, and pushes up on her arms really well. –She can pop herself out of the bumbo. So I never leave her in it. I only put her in there to eat. –She adores Kevin and Julia. –She LOVES Daddy. If she is asleep and hears Daddy her eyes immediately pop open. It is impossible to nurse her if Cody is in the room and if he walks in the room while I am doing it then we are done. She is too in love with watching his every move and she hangs on his every word. We Love you Lacey Girl. We feel very blessed to have you in our family.
Due to a HORRIFIC migraine on Sunday, we just hung out at the hotel, swimming and watching tv . We enjoyed a yummy dinner at TGI Fridays. Which was in our hotel parking lot so we were able to walk. Then we put the kids to bed. It was planned that once they were asleep we were going to go down and buy us some yummy ice cream from the lobby and enjoy a movie, but in the 10 minutes it took the kids to fall asleep, so did we. We all slept from 7:30 p.m til between 6:45 and 7:30 am. It was beautiful. (aside from poor Cody, he got a phone call just after he fell asleep and then he couldn’t turn his mind back off.) I was amazed how good I felt on Monday morning. 11 hours of sleep does amazing things for me!!! Monday morning Cody took the kids down swimming while Lacey and I got ready.
Kevin and Julia are both very brave in the water. I <3 their life jackets. They’ve been worth every penny we spent on them. They are both begging to get back into swimming lessons.
Cody is much more fun in the water then I am.
I don’t do things like this. Cause deep down, I hate the water. But I try really hard to love it because I want my kids to love it.
We then went ice skating (on our feet) out on the lake. It was so fun. But SUPER windy. I had to hold tight onto Julia or the wind would slide her across the ice.
We also toured the capital building. It is beautiful. We would have done a real tour had we been kidless, but we weren’t, so we did our own tour. A nice lady in charge of the tours directed us to the most kid friendly part of the Capital building and then told us a few fun kid friendly facts. She was great.
Kevin was soaking up all the cool-ness that the Capital building holds.
Julia LOVED the floor. She followed all the patterns and would NOT step off of them. (I’ve noticed that everywhere we go lately she follows the patterns on the floor. Which I try to let her, but it can add a lot of time to our little outings!)
Behind Cody and the kids is the Lucky Badger. It used to be on the front of a ship. All the sailors would rub his nose for luck. So his whole body is green, but his nose is nice and shiny. Of course we all gave it a little rub. Who couldn’t use a little extra luck!?!
We then ate Lunch at Ella’s Deli. It was packed, but a super cute, super busy, *as in wall décor/entertainment, restaurant built around a carousel. The kids were in heaven. Afterward we headed for home.
Cody lucked out with Lacey snuggles when we got home. I was SO jealous. I wanted to snatch her away. She never does this and I wanted to partake of the goodness, but I knew she would stop if I took her.
Thank you all for the fabulous phone calls, well wishes, and birthday cards/presents. It was a LOVELY weekend. I love little outings with my family more than anything. It was an A plus weekend.
This morning the kids had a breakfast fit for a king and queen. As of this morning they had both fallen asleep on their own 10 nights in a row. Resulting in a PRIZE!!! Julia got a new tea set and Kevin got bath toys and bath crayons. I’m so proud of both of them. And I must admit, the stress of my life has decreased immensely. I used to DREAD bed time.
Thank you Cody for the fun weekend. I love you and I’m glad I have you.
And thank you Mother and Father for the super cute flowers. My house smells heavenly, and as much as I LOVE the flowers, I’m all over the pink square vase. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
