We have been MIA this last week. We stayed home the entire week. MINUS a quick lunch break at McDonalds and preschool on Friday.
This was our reason for isolation. Croup/Bronchitis hit this man like a ton of bricks on Sunday night.
Since we were home all week, our yard is looking much better. (Please don’t walk beyond the front door. I spent the whole week outside, not in!)
On Saturday last week I cleared a flower bed around the back and one side of the house and we cleaned up the yard. I had told Cody that I had big plans but no money. On Monday morning I got an email from a lady in our ward saying that she was dividing all of her flowers if anyone wanted them. I was able to plant all of the flower beds around the house, plus tare out the 5 shrubs, a bush and a pine tree out of the front flower bed and re plant it, ALL for free.99 and a little labor. I’m really pleased with how it looks and I know that this was truly a blessing. If I had planted and actually paid for these flowers it would have cost me upwards of $500.00. I’m a happy. grateful Mama!
Saturday night was the adult session of Stake conference. Great neighbors took the big kids so that Cody and I could go. We were able to have dinner with Elder Rhodes beforehand. I’ve heard it said before, “The Adult Session is the best kept secret to Stake Conference.” I couldn’t agree more. It was an amazing meeting and hardly ANYONE was there. I definitely came away uplifted and edified. And to add icing to that cake, Lacey fell asleep on me. This hasn’t happened in months. It was fabulous.
Stuck at home+cute kids=picture time!
Our Easter Clothes pictures are less than desirable! We had to be out the door for church a little after 9. I had asked Kevin to go potty before we left, he swore up and down he did not need to, proving a point he tried (without taking his pants down) and wet his pants. (PS, it always stinks when Mom is right!) Then Julia was coloring with a red marker and managed to color all over her dress and smear toothpaste all of the top of it, a few wet wipes later and some good scrubbing she was golden. And of course, always the token poopy diaper when your running late anyway!
(ever since Kevin stopped sucking his thumb he has attached himself to these 2 puppies.)
Kevin and Julia are both feeling much better. Lacey went to bed last night with a fever and is pretty miserable today. My lungs are rattling and I feel like I just finished running 50 miles. The joys of sick kids I suppose.
Today is Lacey’s consultation for surgery on her mouth. I’m one nervous Mama. Crossing my fingers she gets a good nap before we go. She’s already miserable as it is!!!
Despite the rotten colds, we’ve been blessed beyond measure. Did I mention the couches the kids are sitting on? Brand new (to me!) I saw them on craigslist and wanted them, the seller wanted $500. I wasn’t really looking for new couches, although we’ve never had matching furniture. I set up a time to go look and then backed out the day before. I really hadn’t planned on spending money on furniture. When I emailed him I said, “if you don’t get what you are asking, I’ll pay $300. Let me know.” A few days later we were loading them into our truck. A matching couch, love seat, over sized chair, and ottoman! I’m a happy girl. Now… what color to paint our living room….
