And our summer happenings-
Cody presented his capstone last night! He rocked it with a 98%! That’s my boy. I’m so proud of him. He has one last section to write for his actual paper which is due next Tuesday. I’m so excited I’m bursting at the seams!!! (Looks like he will be enrolling in an MBA program come January. At least we will have a little break right?!?) Cody is filling his spare time fixing up a motorcycle he bought for dirt cheap to re-sale. We were also gifted a mini-van, (I know right!?! EEEK! I’m so excited!) That needs a new transmission. That’s the next item on his to do list! In the mean time, my baby is for sale. Blue 2006 Chevy Impala. I’m sad to see her go, but so excited to have some extra seats. There have been several occasions where I needed to or wanted to pick up an extra kid or two but haven’t been able to.
I’m the Mom, my summer happenings and greatest joys are as follows---
Kevin had his first all day play date at a friends house. Oh my boy is growing up!!!! His two favorite words are actually and awkward. I hear them all.the.time. He is currently re-testing the boundaries. Holy Moly it makes my skin crawl, but I’ve been very patient so far and very firm as well! He has also mastered cleaning the bathroom. It’s so nice having help with the chores around our house. He is a great, hard worker, and I love calling him mine! Kevin is working on sight words. He is doing great, it seems after one day he is ready to add more to the pile. Kevin has also memorized the first six articles of faith. We are amazed by how smart he is and how quick he picks up on things. I can tell he is growing up because he no longer things play group is fun. It’s for babies. He’s ready to swim in the deep end at the pool, and park is too boring, and I can’t seem to keep him entertained. His imagination is amazing, and I love all the new things he comes up with. It seems our life goes the smoothest if he has a project to do every single day!
Julia is my firecracker and I would have her no other way. She wants to do everything “BY MY SELF,” or “I CAN DO IT!” but… here’s the kicker, she wants you to watch her. I’ve watched her climb on the potty with no stool (which she grew tall enough to do about 2 months ago) 487,000 times in the last two months. She also learned to climb up the bar stools and back down again with no help, but she will not do it unless someone is there to watch. And it can’t be the I’ll-butter-your-toast-while-I-Watch, kind of watch, it has to be, You.Have.My.100%.Attention. kind of watch. I’m very excited about her new found abilities, but it would be easier to just go in the bathroom with her and plop her on the toilet, or lift her up to the bar stool. Wow!!! Julia’s also mastered quite a few new chores, her two recent ones are dusting, (My LEAST fav) and unloading the dishwasher. She is also a hard worker but can’t find ANYTHING she is asked to look for, but if Kevin can’t find something, she’ll bring it out in .2 seconds. So NOW anytime I need her to get her shoes on or grab something, I tell her Kevin couldn’t find it! It works like a dream!
Lacey- is almost 11 months old! Another EEK! Where did my baby go? Lacey is a mini Kevin! Holy smokes. Her facial expressions, her personality, her likes and dislikes, are Kevo to a T! We often call her little Kevin. She is currently in destruction mode. Picture this-dining room, marker box and crayon box contents spread from one end of the room to the other, my bedroom- the “to file” pile is spread from one end to the other. She is currently in the hiding stage. Everything is under the couches and beds or put up on the seat of the chairs. When it’s meal time, she sits next to me at the table and for every bite she takes, she hides the other on my lap. I’ve learned to sit with a rag on my lap and when she isn’t paying attention I dump all the food back in front of her. She has stood her self up against something about a dozen times now, and is really nervous when she gets herself there. The look of terror on her face is priceless. She has two top teeth trying to make an entrance, but so far she still doesn’t have any. Perhaps on her 11 month post we will have something fun to report on the teeth front!
And that’s all for now-
We are blessed and we know it!
