I don’t know if I mentioned this previously, but in late fall last year our Stake President’s car had a head gasket go out and needed a new engine. He had decided he was just going to scrap it, and Cody being the Stake Executive Secretary, was trying to help him out, found a decent priced engine, and a way to repair the car for a minimal cost. The Stake President told him, “If you think you can fix it, you can have it.” Really. Who does that? Our luck doesn’t run that way! Needless to say, Cody fixed it for a very minimal cost and sold it. We paid for our Christmas trip to Idaho and also paid off a bunch of other things. Fast forward 6 months. I was sitting in a Young Women’s Presidency Meeting, and we were discussing who would be driving the girls to Youth Conference. I volunteered, but I can only take 4 people aside from myself. It was suggested that someone with a mini van drive. I said, “Oh, I don’t have a mini van. I’d love one, but Cody would never even consider the idea!” Sorry Mini van drivers, Cody is a hater!!! The Young Women President at the time said, “You really want a mini van? Mine needs a new transmission, if you think Cody can fix it, you can have it!” Yes! Seriously. Two times in less then a year we were gifted two different cars. We sold our Impala last week. Yay for no more car payment!! And we were given the mini van on Monday. It is a 1999 Honda Odyssey. And although it may need a transmission at some point, it shows no sign of needing one. So now, I have no car payment and I have the extra seats I’ve been longing for. And as Kevin said earlier, “Everything is just more fun when we do it in a mini van!” I must agree!
For the last 5 months, due to the fact Julia was still not sleeping through the night and was keeping Lacey awake at night, she has been sleeping on the floor in Kevin’s room on a twin mattress. We were in dire need of bunk beds. Due to selling our car and having no car payment this month, we were able to make that dream happen this week. Kevin now has space in his room, Bed time is going much better, and everyone is happier.
