I have a disaster of a house. We’ve been playing all day long and I have a to do list 8 pages long. So, I thought I’d blog. From where I sit I see no mess and the to do list will wait. (Just like it has the last week.)

This last Friday, August 24, 2012 was a big day at our house. Cody graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University in Brookfield, Wisconsin. It was SUCH a big day that we were sworn to secrecy. Cody made me promise that there would be no party, no invitations, no BIG DEAL. Nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch. As the days grew closer I asked him again if I could just send an announcement to his family. The answer was a big fat NO! I then explained what a big deal this was. He started going to school the September before Kevin was born. September 2007 and he has gone at least one night a week and sometimes as often as three nights a week. All the while working a full time job, being in the Bishopric or Stake Executive Secretary, still meeting my every demand, meeting us for quick 10 minute dinners between work and school, having three babies, trying to see the kids as often as possible, working on the house, ya know, all the normal duties a Daddy has. He did them all. Not to mention, he is the first in his family to get a Bachelors Degree. This is a big deal. He finally gave in by saying, “Can’t ya just make a general facebook announcement?” Uh NO! You don’t have facebook. So, I gave in, and did nothing. The kids and I planned a special family surprise party. Balloons, signs, décor, we ordered a Banana Cream Pie, and served Cody’s favorite breakfast burritos. But… on graduation day, it just didn’t seem enough. In the middle of the afternoon I texted every person I could think of and had his Mom do the same and just said, “Hey, Cody’s graduating today, would you please send him a text congratulating him.” In a 4 hour period Cody received just over 100 text messages. It seriously made his day. Thanks to all of you who sent one!

The school has no formal graduation in August, so we made our very own Cap for Cody to wear. He was a good sport and wore it the whole evening. The kids loved celebrating his graduation.

We are pretty dang proud of you Cody! We are so lucky you are ours.

Good job Babe!

XOXO
