The Baby Blues…

The baby blues are an interesting thing. I know they are catching me every now and then and I do my best to keep them under control. but I swear I go from an emotional basket case one second to a happy, fun lovin’ person the next. Cody, as always has been very understanding, helpful, and supportive. Let’s just say, I’m always grateful when the hormones level out and I can be my normal self.

Despite the craziness of THAT, I think we are adjusting well to a family of six. There have been a few minor behavioral issues with the big kids, re-establishing boundaries, and some back talking, but as of today, I feel like we’ve made great strides with them and we are back on track. Lacey seems to be adapting well. She still is as needy as can be when we go out, but she is my little putter-er here at home. She is easy to entertain, and does well and entertaining herself. Yesterday she helped me clean piles of things that had yet to find a permanent home while the big kids and the baby were sleeping. She still seems to be my calming influence. I’ve also spent some good one on one time with the bigger kids early in the mornings or in the evenings before bed time. I’m grateful for each one of them and the different dynamics they bring to our family.

Since having Elena, I’ve also said no less than 1,000 times, “I’m so glad I NEVER have to be pregnant again!” With Elena I really felt like I was just putting in my time and I couldn’t wait to have her and get recovered. Having a natural birth with her really helped seal the, I’m-never-doing-this-again deal!

I was bummed that more things weren’t open while my Mom was here, but we tried to show her just as much as we could. Weirs Beach is a very famous beach and a cute little town. We stopped in the pouring rain and Cody sat in the car and snapped our pictures, so we could document her being here.

Elena had her first bath and many more since in our oversized kitchen sink. *I LOVE THAT THING!* (the sink! Well, I love the baby more, but the sink is fab!)

She wasn’t overly impressed the first time, but since then, she loves chillin’ in some nice warm water.

As I mentioned before, Cody is the Cat’s meow at this house. His kids ADORE him and he is so much fun to play with.

This was Lacey’s first go with ring-around-the-rosies. (DEPRIVED, RIGHT?!)

They all loved it!!!!

And it ended with a “SUPAH!” and High Fives all the way around.

Anytime anyone says, “Supah!’ Lacey is quick to repeat it. I don’t think she knows that she does it half of the time. A few times we have heard it from the cracks of her door when we thought she was fast asleep. It’s super cute, and we all LOVE IT!

Cody and Kevin had a great time shooting the BB Gun. Once the wind dies down and it’s a warmer day, I’m sure you can bet they will be back out there at it again!

Granny was the best about playing games with the kids (sadly, our camera is on the end of it’s life, more pictures are looking blurry and misconstrued. SAD DAY!) their all time favorite is the SKUNK GAME! Which is Old Maid, with a Skunk instead. She played it with the kids several times every hour! I SWEAR! Thanks Mom! Anytime anyone drew the skunk card from my Mom’s hand she would give a loud laugh and now Lacey walks around the house with cards in her hand and will say to me, “Pick Card!” Once I draw one she will laugh really loud and then say, “Pick Card!” And draw the card back out of my hand.

I hope my Mom has better pictures on her camera, because out of a ton of pictures, this is the clearest one. Wish I’d known sooner that this gem was on it’s last leg.

And last, yesterday the kids wanted to play “restaurant",” so after making some fancy menu’s for the Gray’s diner, they each ordered their food and enjoyed eating it outside.

And two other things worth noting--

Lacey turned 20 months old on the 18th of April. She wrapped up our day by telling us she needed to go poopoo and doing it on the potty! Love her! She’s told us several times since, but there was too much going on so she didn’t sit long and would go in her diaper soon after. I’m still just as proud as can be!!!

Elena had her two week check up, she weighed in at 7 lbs 7 oz. at the 25%. We were very pleased with this weight. She was 6 lbs. 14 oz. when she was born, but at two days old, she had dropped to 6 lbs 4 oz. at three days, she was up to 6 lbs 9 oz. and the following day, 6 lbs 10 oz. All of which her weight was in the 10% or less. She has also grown from 19 inches to 21.5 inches putting her at 50% for height. It seemed as though we were falling apart at her doctors appointment, we showed up with two blocked tear ducts, an overly disgusting belly button that was oozing like crazy, and a weird diaper rash. Thankfully, the doctor cauterized her belly button and it is now almost completely healed, and the diaper rash has cleared up. Now if we can just get her eyes to clear up too, we will be golden!

(this outfit is jinxed! Every time she wears it she has a massive blow out, as cute as it is, it will probably reside in her closet until it never fits again!)

I’m so grateful to be a wife and a mother. We are blessed and we know it!

We go to the Joseph Smith Memorial about twice a year. It is only about an hour away. I can't believe you were so close! Of course, now I am in Idaho, but this summer I really am going to come and see you.
