JULY

As I was reflecting on July and what I wanted to remember, all that really came to mind was a hard core accounting class that I spent 9 million hours working on. Like hard. But so fun. So, so fun!  I really love school. I love the hard, I love how my brain feels after it’s been pushed and pried, and then something sticks. I love accounting. I thought I might hate it after the second week of July, but now, seven weeks in, I love it. All of it. There was so much more to July than accounting though. Lots of great and wonderful things.  It was a very busy month for our family. Cody and I spent every spare second working on our back patio. Now that it is finished, I walk to our back window just to look at it several times a day. It was so worth all the sweat and bruises. (I bruised my arms hardcore working the cement mixer!) I think if Kevin would have been told one more time, “sorry, but we have to work on the patio today.” He may have blown a gasket. We were all kind of sick of it. The time we have spent out on the patio has been everything I dreamed of. Along with the back patio, we were working like crazy to host Cody’s family reunion. We made shirts for his whole family. It was so much fun. One night while we were all out on the patio around the fire I leaned over to Cody and said, “this is everything I dreamed of!” I wish I could have snapped a picture. It fully captured my desire for the patio/fire pit and my want for a successful family reunion.

Along with the work also came fun—because, I can’t live long without it. We went on hikes with friends, played at the lake and the ocean. Visited the Science Museum, cleaned the house (a few times!), participated in swimming and tennis lessons, we went dirtbiking/fourwheeling, Enjoyed a beautiful fourth of July at our neighbors lake house and wrapped up the evening with fireworks at our house with friends. We went to the parade (I’m a total sucker for parades!) it was short and sweet, true to Moultonborough Town fashion. The fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars are the bulk of the parade, as we were walking back home the emergency vehicles were circling back around to return to the station and I taught my children what will happen if you pump your fist up and down! We had our very own private viewing of a second parade of emergency vehicles. It was sooo awesome to have every single one of them honk their horn several times. The kids had smiles from ear to ear and Elena rode atop Cody’s shoulders waving her American Flag back and forth. It made my heart swell with gratitude for the country we live in. I love the American Flag. I love all that it represents and I love that my children are starting to get it.  The end of June we welcomed a new little nephew, Thomas Monroe, he is beautiful and makes me SO DANG HOMESICK!! We also welcomed a little Bunny Rabbit into our family, Peter Rabbit. He is the cutest guy ever. We have him litter trained about 90%. Which is awesome, because he can roam the upstairs of our house. The only problem we are having is after meal time he like to snack under the dining table and poop on the rug. (Thankfully it’s easy to clean up) I put a litter box under the table, hoping he would go in it and we could slowly move it to the wall. He’s really good about pottying in it, but doesn’t bother going in it to poop. Which, I’m really glad it’s not the reverse problem, but if he would kick it, he would be that much cooler!!!

Our children each grew bigger and smarter.  Kevin and Julia both logged just over 600 pages in the summer reading program. We read as a family the first three books of the Book of Mormon. Some nights I think I ask Cody 10 times each time we read if it’s really worth it. Each time he assures me it is. It’s really hard to get a 4 year old and a 2 year old to care. We’ve already read the Book of Mormon picture books with them and they aren’t too interested in the right now. We’ve tried drawing pictures of what we learn….and a few other random coping ideas, but the last few times we drove in the car, I played it on my phone while we drove and it was much easier to listen without all the distraction of trying to get them to sit and be sort of quiet.

Lacey is still just as fun and inquisitive as always, she attended a few summer school classes and LOVED them!  Elena picked up an entire dictionary of new words. (Some of which are only understood if you understand Laney!) I love hearing her say, "I schwim in watey!"

‘Twas a good month! We are blessed and we know it!

Coming Soon---The family reunion! It was the bomb.com
