We love the month of August.
It was the month we met.
A few weeks after we married Cody told me one night that he wished he had kept track of all of our dates and a better journal of how we met and what happened when.
For his birthday that year I gave him a book with a very detailed description and my point of view of all of our dates.
We've gotten it out every year and each day in August we read about what we did that day!
The first day being August 13 when Cody called and asked me out on a date.
August 14 was the big date. It was supposed to be something casual. An easy escape if things didn't go well.
BUT... I sucked him into a family home evening with not only my ENTIRE family, but my Sister in Laws entire family. And, I drove, so there was no 'easy escape' as he likes to call it!
We had dinner at my Sis-in-law's parent's house.
There were 2 tables set up.
All the 'kids' (my brothers and sisters) got their food first and filled table #1.
That left, my sister in law's parents, my parents, and Cody and me at table #2.
He got to know my parents really well on date numero uno!
Why he did not run, we will never know!!!
August 28 was a big day for us! We'd official known each other for 14 days now.
(Seven of those 14 days I was in Lake Powell with no cell service, but that's totally beside the point!)
With a total of only four dates, today Cody told me that he loved me. And later that night, we decided that getting married was the thing to do!
I could not have made a better decision in all of my life.
It has been SO SO SO fun to look back and remember our dating years...er... months!
Cody proposed on October 8 in front of this tree.
We had gone up to the cabin to carve our names into a tree and to scope out a Christmas tree to cut down.
This picture was actually taken on our honeymoon. We stayed at the cabin for a few days and made the trek to find the tree and document the place of engagement!
I'm so lucky to have the husband I do!
Thanks Cody for all the fun memories.
I'm looking forward to many many more!
XOXO
