There was a LOT of excitement leading up to this big day! Since Valentines ended Kevin has been asking all about St. Patrick’s Day. I’m not sure where he heard it from or how it got in his head. Last year for St. Patrick’s Day we wore green and decorated cookies. This year, due to the boy’s excitement, St. Patrick’s Day has become a big deal at this house!
Cody worked a late shift on Friday morning and took the kids to the store first thing in the morning. Cody was not happy with Julia’s outfit. Cody’s Mom sent these super cute pink boots for Julia, anytime she wears them I hear Cody say, “I’m going to end up in jail!” For the record, Julia and I LOVE them! And they are super cute!
The kids also enjoyed breakfast on the bar… Why? I have no idea. As it turns out, if your kids NEVER eat and you catch them eating, you do NOT correct the bad behavior for fear they wont eat again! (Kevin’s doing a lot better, Julia, it’s amazing she can even function!)
We’ve had fabulous weather this week. The kids have played at the park every day if not twice a day. Lacey has had her first experience in the swing and it was a hit. She has LOVED playing outside just as much as the big kids have.
We wrapped up our Friday with Leprechaun Traps. Julia was luring the Leprechaun in with a rainbow, a pot of gold, a swimming pool, stars, and a balloon. Kevin has a slide, a rainbow and balloons. Kevin had GRANDE plans, but he tuckered out pretty quick. The swing set never got finished, but I thought they turned out great. What more could a little Leprechaun want right?!?!
This morning when the kids woke up we went to check our traps to find them wide open with little Leprechaun foot prints all over and a note from Lenny the Leprechaun.
We walked back in to see that he had filled our shoes with goodies and green shirts.
He also covered the inside of the house with little Green shamrocks. Kevin and Julia raced around to find all the silly places they were hidden.
(Cody was THRILLED to wear his green shirt!!! Even so he was a good sport and wore it ALL day, even when he went flying. Every time we got out of the car today he said, “Oh great, we’re all matching!” He gets an A+ for good sportsmanship today!)
We had green pancakes for Breakfast, when we pulled out the milk, Lenny had been in our fridge and turned our milk green.
Of course the holiday could not go much longer without a Family Picture on the couch!
After a quick picture we went to clean the church and out to lunch. Dad went flying while the kids and I all napped.
We were downstairs painting when Kevin came running down to inform us that Lenny had been in the bathroom and turned the toilet water green! He EVEN left more footprints!
And next, we found a trail of the kids’ markers. ALL the caps were off, with a note from Lenny and a new pack of markers.
When the kids woke from their naps their rooms had been toilet papered. They LOVED IT!!!
After that we went to Uncle Rob’s and Aunt Heidi’s house for Dad to work on some bikes and we played outside and had a picnic dinner. Julia also mastered pedaling the big girl bike. Kevin has learned to pump on the swing! *LOVE IT!*
I’m not going to lie. St. Patrick’s Day may be one of my new favorite Holidays!
And how could it not be with this kid in town.
Lenny the Leprechaun left one more parting gift. Color tablets for the kids’ bathwater. Every time the water turns green the kids will remember him.
Kevin and Julia are so bummed he had to go. But, Lenny, we had so much fun and we can’t wait until next year!!!!
