R&R

A few days before leaving on a little trip, just Lacey and I, for some much needed R&R, Lacey started scrunching her face anytime we pulled the camera out.

Lacey and I met up with my parents, two of my sisters, my brother, a niece and a nephew, and all the Oborn gang in Colorado for a few days of a much needed “Mommy Break!”  It was weird and refreshing to only take care of myself and Lacey.  We had lots of fun, although it was very relaxing, there was not much resting that took place. Lots of late nights and early mornings. Even so, it was perfect.

On our second night Lacey stayed up until 3:40 AM and then only slept until 5:30. I was one tired Mama. She later crashed for quite a few hours.

We shopped til we dropped,

And got all sorts of lovins from Granny and Pa.

One of my favorite parts about the whole trip were the late nights. Ice cream runs at 10 PM, staying up and talking and laughing until things no longer made any sense. And of course, my Dad, he turns into a Gangster when the sun goes down.

I don’t think Kevin and Julia missed us one bit. Their Daddy took fabulous care of them. They partied hard for 4 days straight. Not a single nap was taken, and never once did they get in bed before 9 PM. Although my kids didn’t miss me, Cody did. I think his exact words were, “I understand a little better why you fall in to bed at night!”

THANK.YOU!

The kids were thrilled to be showered by gifts when I returned. My parents out fitted them all in a new pair of jammies. Grandma Great sent them each home an Easter treat, and I bought the kids each an outfit and a ginormous pencil.

Pictures seemed like a good idea with them all sitting on the couch together. It went down hill fast!!!

An exciting thing has happened in the last month. Our little Tio has learned to read. His newest obsession is writing letters and asking me what they say. I found this the other day.

I’m not sure what the first word is, but the next are cat, dog, gray, and nose. He is doing great at sounding out words and it is so fun to hear his excitement when he figures them out.

I have a tile in my kitchen that says,

one of the first words Kevin sounded out was BUT, for awhile I heard, “Mom, I just said But, but not the naughty Butt, the but like but I want ice cream!”

We’ve had a ton of fun with this new found talent of Kevin’s and we are so proud of his hard work at preschool. Good job Tio Guapo!

On Saturday we attended the neighborhoods coldest Easter Egg hunt. Despite the inclement weather, we still had a great time finding eggs, Coloring Eggs, chatting with all of the neighbors, and enjoying yummy breakfast foods. We are going to try Egg Hunt #2 this Saturday with hopefully more enjoyable temps!

On Tuesday morning I decided on a whim to get my carpets cleaned, after dropping the two oldest at preschool the fun began.

I gave Lacey her first ever crumb donut. This morsel of deliciousness kept her happy for one hour to be exact. Turns out she is a sucker for crumb donuts just like her Mum!

Apparently the carpet cleaning wiped this little girl out too. She slept for 14 hours the next night! LOVELY!!!

And one more scrunch-y face to wrap up the post!!!
