5K, TEDDY, KEV, LACE, PAINT

I did it! I ran a 5K. Now, I know millions of people run and a 5K ain’t no thing. But I was nervous about this, partly because I’m no runner and partly because my running partner is a PRO.  I was afraid I was going to hold her back or be left in the dust. But, she stuck it out with me. I’m proud to report I beat my personal best by more than 2 minutes, finishing in just under 32 minutes.  When we passed our first distance marker, .69 miles I thought to myself, this is a breeze, it’s going a lot better than I had expected, but that last mile marker, 2.49, those last 6/10 felt like 3 miles. Even so, I did it and I didn’t fail miserably and Megan the PRO, stuck it out with me and was fabulous at making me think I was doing awesome. Thanks Megan!!!

Next on my blogging agenda, is “Teddy!” February 2011 I took Julia’s binkie away, when starting this process, we went to the store and she picked out her very own stuffed animal, a cute little khaki cow named Puppy! The binkie transition went smoothly and Julia attached herself to the cow instead.

When Julia hurt her finger we left in such a hurry that Puppy was left on the couch. When we got to he first hospital a nurse brought in this Teddy bear and encouraged her to pick a name for him right away.

She asked every few seconds if he had a name yet, after about 3 or 4 minutes Julia whispered, “Teddy”

and now we have Teddy, Puppy has long since been forgotten about. She found him this morning and said, “Oh, there’s Puppy!” and then moved him to a new spot to hang out.  I love going in at night to put blankets on Julia (she refuses to fall asleep with any and ALSO refuses to sleep very long at all, that’s a WHOLE other post!) and seeing Teddy sitting snuggled in her arms. He was a real life saver on the Big scary day of oodles of doctors, needles, stitches, and casts.

The healing process is going quite smoothly. Here you have all the angles.

Kevin is a growing boy. He and Cody went golfing on Saturday. Kevin told me at LEAST 12 times, But I didn’t win anything Mom. Cody said he did great. He really golfed the whole 9 holes, never touched his ball once and made them all in the hole.

Kevin’s favorite treats right now, Sticky Cereal (rice Krispy treats) Sticky Popcorn (Carmel popcorn) and Smores. This is Kevin after enjoying a smore on the couch. (Don’t ask!)

For the last 2 months or so Kevin has started calling me Mama and I love it!!!  Not to long ago Cody and I were walking into our room for bed when Kevin started talking, “Daddy, Did you build a jump for Mama?” Cody said, “What?”

-K- Did you build a bike jump for Mama?

C-No

-K- You need to build a bike jump for Mama!

C-I did!!!

K-Ok, how big is it?

C-Big

K-SOUND ASLEEP!

It was hilarious. I’m pretty sure Kevin was sound asleep the whole time and that Cody and I were just walking by in time to participate in his sleep talking.

Kevin and Julia have their BFF Haile over to play today. They are building forts, coloring pictures, and watching movies. And I am getting a LOT done!!!

Lacey- is mobile!!!

On April 30, Lacey started waving bye bye and says Da Da whenever Cody walks in the room. I couldn’t say it official because Cody said it wasn’t real, until I wasn’t in the room and she waved to Cody and said Da Da, with out being prompted by me. On May 3, she started sitting herself up all by herself and since then she has started clapping.  She loves getting under the end tables, if she pushes up on her arms she her head touches the top and to her it is the funniest thing on the planet.

The picture on the left she is enjoying her first ever donut hole. Red Velvet Donut hole at that. Cody and I decided to have a game night once the kids were in bed and we wanted a treat to go with it, so we made donut holes. Lacey was awake to enjoy that part of the fun!  Then she had a bath to wash off all evidence.

On Sunday, the boys went to church at normal time and I went late to teach Kevin’s class. We were having a HELL-OF-A morning with these two little gems. So bad, that Julia went down for a nap at 10:30. You see on Saturday night, Lacey slept for a total of 3 hours, none of those hours were in a row and according to Cody, Julia was awake from 4 AM on (I was with Lacey) so, neither of us were willing to wake the monsters from their restful state. As we were walking out the door Julia said, But MOM, you need to take our picture!!!  So I hurry and snapped a shot with my phone.

And LAST- We painted our living room…I took the kids to the park and when I returned home Cody was knee deep in the painting process, the gray just wasn’t cutting it with out new couches. Cody had suggested orange and when we got to looking at paint, we picked Parakeet to couple with it.

And then we did a stain wash on it to get this beautiful green which I totally LOVE!!!

Thanks to some tips from our friend Rob, the painter, we did the entire thing with out taping a SINGLE thing AND our lines look (mostly) professional!!!

Sorry for being so winded…

Two things:
1) the pro you ran with is no pro! She is an imposter, and you did great!
2) I really like the orange and the green. Looks awesome!

Wow! Congrats on the 5k! That is a goal of mine. Oh, I would be as happy as you are! And interesting color choice in your living room! You are brave - but it looks absolutely fantastic!
