Packing and moving

Let's just say, it is really weird to sit on the couch and watch someone else pack up all of your belongings. That is what we did all day on Thursday the 14th. Thankfully, it being Valentines day, we gave the kids their love gift which made the hanging out in the living room less miserable. Kevin and Julia got art boxes. boxes full of crayons, markers, scissors, color pencils, glue, paint, and lots of paper. Lacey baby got her own little lap top. They were all thrilled and they spent the majority of their waiting time making projects.
The packers were speedy fast. They packed everything on Thursday and Friday was the loading day. After they left Thursday night we threw the mattresses back onto the floor and slept all comfy cozy in our own home. The kids were very disappointed as they were dying to go to a hotel. Friday started about 8:30 am with the loading. Kevin and Julia both had school and Lacey took an exceptionally long morning nap. So as the packers loaded, Cody and I cleaned up behind them. When they finished about 2, Cody went over paper work with them while I mopped and after a few quick errands we were on the road by three. Of course this put us in Chicago traffic at an awful time, but we made it all the way to Michigan the first night. Promising the kids we would swim as soon as we got to the hotel, only to find out the pool was under construction. Day two we drove to Liverpool, NY. It was a long day but thanks to all the awesome car presents the kids traveled really well, and were again anxious to swim. Second hotel had a seasonal pool only! The first call Cody made on Sunday morning was to our third hotel double checking that the pool was in working order. We were golden and went on our way. Due to the winter holiday out here, EVERYTHING was booked so our hotel was an extra hour and a half drive to the border of Maine and New Hampshire, but for a pool in working order, who cares, right!!! We arrived to our hotel about 4 pm. Giving the kids plenty of time to swim out all of their wiggles and falling fast asleep. Monday first thing we packed up and found a hotel in the town of Tilton which is about 45 minutes from our house, and right by the Home Depot where we stopped first thing to order our carpet for the downstairs of our new house. The kids love being in a hotel and have swam every day but one. Everyone here knows who we are and we've been treated really well. The kids have made lots of friends down at the pool and they think that everyone here is moving to New Hampshire!! Tuesday evening our loan officer called to inform us that, "our loan type did not allow for a 2nd kitchen." Um, what? We were set to close on Monday, (today) but had to push it back to Thursday and spent Saturday and Sunday tearing out the basement kitchen, patching holes in the walls, capping the gas and water, and repainting. Hopefully now things are set to close for Thursday.
