After returning from our trip, the kids finally started to get excited about school. They pretty much refused to discuss the matter while we were in Idaho because they DID NOT want to have to leave. Kevin was up early and ready to rumble. The bus picks him up at our driveway which is lovely. The neighbor kids get on here too. On the first day when Kevin climbed off of the bus, he melted into my arms and said, “Do I really have to be gone for so long?” I think going from napping every day to no naps took a toll on this poor boy. He missed the fourth day of school. Saturday and Sunday he seemed fine and Monday he seemed fine and went, only to get a call from the school nurse a few hours later that he had a fever and he stayed home from school on Tuesday. On the 6th day of school, he had already missed three days. Hey, I’m all for using up every last absence, but lets use them doing something fun! Not sick days!!!
Julia started school the next day. She had absolutely no reservations and was super excited about riding too and from school with her teacher Mrs. Karen who is also our next door neighbor.
Julia picks out her own clothes…This is what she came up with on Friday last week. A little much for me, but so fitting for her. She looked adorable.
And since school has started, so has ballet/tap and soccer. Both kids really enjoy their activity of choice and have had lots of fun.
The kids are also using up all the good weather we will have left. This particular day they, along with the neighbor boys, caught 5 frogs. Kevin is becoming very confident on his motorcycle (Thanks to new riding gear from Granny and Pa.) The last picture is him just as he kick started it on his own and he is pushing it off of the kick stand. Such a big boy. And the very last picture… Early this spring Kevin and the neighbor boy, Brian, were playing outside and thought they were filling up a snake hole with water when up floated two baby chipmunks. Kevin ran in to show Karen who was startled and said, “Don’t touch it, go put it back, No wait, Let me take a picture first!” It was a new baby and still didn’t have it’s eyes opened. We were worried they were done for. Karen made a few phone calls to the nature center who assured her that Mama Chipmunks are really good mothers and would come back for them. She covered them with a box and when I went back over a bit later to check on them, they were gone. Such a sweet Mama to come after her poor babies.
Our kids have great teachers. We have great neighbors. We love our house. We love our kids. WE love Cody’s job. We are blessed and we know it!
