Happy Anniversary
Seven years, seven glorious years! The day came much too quickly and left just as fast. We've never been much into exchanging gifts on our anniversary, but I'm kind of a sentimental person and like to do something out of the ordinary. Last year we exchanged our seven most favorite memories. We had lots of fun and I loved hearing Cody's favorite things, however, I wanted to do something different. In a few years we will exchange our favorite memories again, this year I wanted Cody to come up with his favorite memory to share with our kids and I'd do the same. Our day got away from us doing some other things and we didn't end up getting near as much time as we had hoped to be together. We started first taking the kids for a walk outside and I told them how Cody proposed to me. We then picked our favorite tree and started to carve all of our names in them. It started to get dark fast and so Cody only got everyone's first initial into the tree before it was too dark. We rallied the troops and came in for dinner. We had my first attempt at homemade lasagna, (Cody did say, "this is the best lasagna I've ever had!") which was what was served at the dinner before our wedding. While we ate we told the kids all about our wedding day. We then loaded the troops and ran grocery shopping. Cody and I split up and had our shopping done in about 15 minutes! Glorious, I love my grocery shopping hubby!! We hustled home as it was getting late to do Cody's activity. Cody's favorite memory, which was also at the top of his list last year, is when we lived in Idaho Falls he had his own business repairing snowmobiles, jet skis, motorcycles, anything that had potential to run really. He'd work all day blowing insulation and then he'd come home and work all night working hard to make ends meet. It was winter and it was cold. After cleaning up from dinner and doing whatever I needed for the next day, I'd make us both a big mug of hot chocolate and go out in the garage for a few hours to hand him tools and talk to him before I'd go in and go to bed. So, we took the kids out into the freezing garage with mugs of hot chocolate and Cody told them his favorite memory. They loved it. I wished we had had more time, but we made do and had a great time anyway. The kids loved that it was our anniversary and several times throughout the day we got a "happy anniversary" and a love from them. It was really fun. I've since finished the kids' names in the tree. Mine and Cody's are too tall for me to reach so he'll have to do them.
