DC

We decided this year to do a small Christmas and take our family on a trip to Florida, with a few fun stops along the way. Since we couldn't take our Christmas with us, along with all of the rest of our junk, we opened presents on December 19 and then left a few hours later.

Kevin got a drone, which he has yet to fly because it was way too windy.
Julia got a sewing machine and we couldn't leave without first whipping up a pair of Eiffel Tower Pajama pants.
Lacey was elated with a new princess scooter and Elena got her very own building blocks, which she has spent hours building towers and knocking them over.
Cody got Apple TV and he shocked my socks off with a brand new Nikon Camera. And now, I'm really sorry because I've taken TONS of pictures!!

The first stop on our trip was a night in STINKY Delaware. We decided to stay there because Cody and I are so close to having visited all 50 states and Delaware was one we needed. I don't know if we just hit a crummy spot, or what, but it STUNK!
We left bright and early, (our kids would have it no other way) and hit up DC first thing. It was LOVELY! There was not a cloud in the sky and there were VERY few people. We scored a glorious parking spot and pulled out the scooters. The kids "stooted," as Laney calls it, up and down the streets of DC. Sadly, Lacey had a little flu bug and sat tight in the stroller the whole entire day. She sure was a trooper, but she wasn't too excited about anything. Our first stop was the Smithsonian. We spent several hours exploring and we still didn't see everything, but the kids were dying to get back on their scooters. We scooted over to the Washington Monument and enjoyed a yummy snack, then headed back up the other side of the street to the Air and Space Museum. Cody, Kevin, and Julia did a flight simulator while Lacey sat in the stroller and Elena bawled her eyes out because her Dad had left her. Plus she had been up since the sun and scooted about two miles on her scooter. We only spent a little over an hour in the air and space museum before the kids had had it and we jumped back on the road for a few hours before spending the night in Virginia. We are already making plans for a return trip to DC in the Spring time. We loved every second of our time there and can't wait to go back and see more.
