It was so very exciting to roll into Panama City Beach to a balmy 77 degrees. We were all thrilled to ditch our pants and sweat shirts for shorts and tees. The kids were dying to get on their scooters and we scooted down to the beach first thing. It was mighty windy and there were warnings not to get into the water. The waves were monstrous so we just played in the sand. The next morning was over cast and rainy so we hit up the local zoo. It was awful. It had rave reviews online but I wouldn't even go so far as to call it mediocre. We had tore the kids off of their scooters to go and regretted it the second we got there. Thankfully they had the petting zoo at the end or it would have been a total bust. There was a teeny little pig that followed us all around that the kids absolutely loved feeding. It was good for Lacey since she was missing her Peter Rabbit oh so badly. Just as we were leaving Santa showed up. Surprise, Elena was afraid!! The rest of the kids were super excited. We snagged a picture with him and then he started the "Florida Snow" (bubbles) and the kids played until they were sopping wet and bubbly all over.
Note to self, skip the zoo in Panama City Beach! ;)
After returning home we all napped and headed to the pool. A heated pool is the bomb.com and we all loved swimming in it. (Even this old Mom who totally dislikes pools!)
This picture is the greatest picture ever! I wish I had videoed it as it was a priceless. The kids had been scooting all morning and Kevin, Julia, and Lacey sat down and were chit chatting while Elena continued to scoot around. Both girls had their arms folded talking to Kevin and their scooters were laying on the ground all around them. Elena scooted up and stopped, but her scooter is on three wheels so she tipped it over, folded her arms, walked to the curb and sat down, she looked down the sidewalk to see Kevin leaning back on his hands and so she unfolded her arms and copied him. It was equal parts adorable and funny. We sure love these kids of ours.
Aunt Tessa sent the kids money for Christmas to use on their trip. We hit jackpot at a local shop in the off season! The kids were super excited about their purchases. Thank you, Tessa and Dillon.
