I'm at a loss for words tonight.
Elena started preschool in April and flourished. She loved every single second of every single day. We started her at two times a week but leaving Lacey there alone on that third day was never much fun so we changed her to three days. After only her second or third class she came home writing her L's and E's and is ever so good at pointing them out everywhere we go.
Lacey loved having Elena come to school with her. There are a darling set of twins in the girls' class and Lacey felt like she was fulfilling her dream of being a twin by having Elena there with her. For a few months Lacey would ask me, "Why didn't you just have Elena in your tummy with me so we could be like Reese and Hayden!?" Lacey also loved school. I cannot even wrap my mind around the fact that she has completed two whole years of preschool. She keeps asking me how many more days until Kindergarten. She had her Kindergarten orientation a few weeks ago. She loved her first day. She loved meeting so many new friends and she loved being at the big kids school.
We could not have been more blessed in the Preschool teacher department. My good friend, Karen, is the director of the Preschool and my children consider her to be their second mother. She is kind, compassionate, and so loving. I'm so glad Elena will have two more years with her. I had the privilege of subbing in the girls' class a handful of times and I also loved preschool as much as they do. It is just a wonderful place to be.
The girls were so excited for their Grand Dinner. They each picked out their favorite dress, insisted on curly hair, and we had to top their outfits off with painted fingers and toes, and a little dab of makeup.
They sang us some of their favorite songs, one about chicks and the stand up sit down song. It was so fun to see them in their element with their peers, and they were thrilled to show Kevin and Julia the things they had learned.
If you can remember last year, Lacey had to be held for the majority of the performance and when it came time to accept her certificate of completion she slid on her bum across the entire stage as not to draw attention to herself. This year was a completely different story. She walked with pride and accomplishment and was so excited to be performing.
It was fabulous to see both girls learn and grow.
Now, excuse me while I cry myself to sleep. How can my Lacey Baby be starting Kindergarten already?
