Secrets…

Have you ever noticed that when someone goes an extended period of time with out updating their blog when they finally get back to it they announce that they’re pregnant…

Well,

We aren’t!!!   Ha!!

MAY2012 001

But, I haven’t updated in awhile because I was hoping to have something significant to blog about but we are still waiting. And, it really hasn’t been THAT long of a wait, but the days feel like weeks! :)

MAY2012 002

So, what is so important?

(Lacey’s new funny face she makes when the camera comes out!)

MAY2012 008

On Monday the 7th Cody had an important dinner meeting with an important individual at work and was told that there would be two jobs for him to apply for this week (any and all jobs have to be applied for within the company.) not only were there two jobs, but he had a 95% chance of getting one and a 100% chance of getting the other.

MAY2012 009

Awesome right?

We thought so, we’ve been waiting for these TWO jobs for three YEARS now.

MAY2012 012

THE very next day Cody was contacted by the HR department at work to set up an interview time for a job that he had applied for a few weeks ago because said jobs were taking too long and we were ready to move on. It is a three year internship that will explore 6 different careers with in Harley, will give us a chance to live out of the country for a year and after the three years, the sky is the limit.

MAY2012 013

With in minutes of scheduling the interview Cody’s phone rang and it was a man from the HR department of a local mining company calling to ask Cody to apply for a job there.

WHAT? 4 jobs-1 day…

MAY2012 014

We’ve been waiting, sometimes patiently, other times not so much, for three years, and all in TWO days, there are FOUR opportunities placed before us.

MAY2012 015

Since that Sunny Monday afternoon, Cody has since had interview numero dos and we are currently waiting….

MAY2012 017

and, in case you don’t know me, I don’t handle this waiting game so well. You see, I am a PLANNER! I plan, re plan, and then re plan one more time. Every night before going to bed I have a list as long as legal size envelope from a piece of junk mail from that day of things I’m going to do the next day.  I have a calendar marked up with everything we have going for the month, and I ask Cody every single day if anything has come up that needs to go on the calendar. This not knowing thing it drives me nuts-o and so that my friends, is why I’ve not blogged. I don’t have anything to say. Nothing- Zero-Zip-Zilch.

But, in the midst of all this waiting, silly things have happened…

Like the night we laughed our heads off at Kevo as he played in Lacey’s jacket. He was super funny and super d duper cute. I swear this kid grew up on me while I was sleeping.

Julia my crummy sleeper (who was just kicked out of her own room because she wakes up Lacey wayyyyy tooo often) is oh so cute when she is sleeping. She lines up all her animals a refuses to fall asleep with a blanket on.

IMG_1225

And Lacey, is growing like a weed. She celebrated her 9 month birthday on the 18th weighing in at 15 lbs 13 oz in the 6%. Reaching 28 inches tall at the 67%.

IMG_1226

She is tall and lean, but boy is she an eating machine. As a baby new to food she loved her veggies, but since eating table food she gags at anything pureed and suddenly has a love for strawberries, watermelon, broccoli, baked potatoes, chicken, and jam sandwiches. She will eat AN ENTIRE jam sandwich in a good 3 minutes. It is an amazing sight to behold. At 9 months we are working on weaning Lacey. It is a happy/sad/happy/sad time for me. She has been a champion of a nurser, but Cody will have her for a little while while I am at girls camp and she wont drink anything. In an attempt to make his life easier (as well as my two best girls that watch her for me) after today we are down to nursing just at night. And the heart breaker… she didn’t really even care tonight. Sad for the mama!!  But happy at the same time. It has been awfully convenient to hand her a bottle and let her take care of the feeding during the day.

at 9 months Lacey loves waving Hi and saying Hi! And if Cody walks in the room she says Hi Dad! It is the cutest thing and OH SO sweet. It melts my heart and Daddy gets all gushy, if only she could say, I need money… he would totally be forking it over.

Julia keeps us in stitches. She is HI-LARIOUS!!! This is what she turns into anytime she sees Lacey. An entertaining machine. We have to keep her in check because she gets LOUD fast and screams at a defining decibel.

IMG_1234IMG_1235IMG_1237IMG_1238

We had a fun day at the zoo the other day. We were able to watch the Hyena's hunt for food, the Polar Bear swim for apples, and the lion cubs wrestle.

IMG_1251IMG_1252

As if that wasn’t fun enough we jumped in a train car with our 3 best buds. It was a little cramped, but oh so fun.

IMG_1253IMG_1257

I enjoyed naptime by giving myself a new color. The ever famous ombre aka-Dark roots, lighter ends, took over my coloring world, and I am IN LOVE! Not only do I NOT have to color as often, it gives just the perfect amount of brightness with no symmetry.

And as always, it’s fun to get this picture text from my daddy. He and Tyrel were out working in Ty’s yard when Tyrel put the skill saw through his thigh. Just into the muscle, the layers of stitches later he was sitting sore on his couch at home. Poor guy. Oddly enough, I had been worried about my Dad and Ty a few hours before that and had been praying for their safety. Upon talking to my Dad the FIRST words out of his mouth were “DON’T TELL YOUR MOTHER!” Sadly for me my mother is camping and I can’t tell her anything til she gets back and by then she’ll already know! I’m glad it wasn’t worse Tyrel and I hope you heal quickly.

Fun pictures of my sweet husband who I had the honoring of dancing with for the FIRST time EVER on Saturday night.  I had the giggles and couldn’t stop laughing, but it was quite romantic, let me tell you!

IMG_1279

Lacey devoured an entire bake potato in 2.7 seconds.

IMG_1282IMG_1283

Sunday entertainment, Pedi’s for the girls, and watching a spider roll up his lunch for the boys.

IMG_1286IMG_1288

Memorial Day we took a drive to a near by town, devoured a delish lunch from a mexican joint and enjoyed a super fun walk by the lake.

IMG_1289IMG_1294IMG_1298IMG_1299

Julia was loving her camera time and kept asking if she could make a sad face too!

IMG_1305

We wrapped up our evening with some dirt bike riding for Kevin and bicycle riding for Julia and dinner with some fabulous friends from our ward.

IMG_1308

Despite the stresses of the unknown, we are blessed and we know it.

IMG_1309

We have talked a lot today with our kids about the importance of this beloved holiday. One of my favorites, always has, always will. And we talked about all the people that have so willing fought for our freedom. We give a big shout out and a slobbery kiss to one of our favorite soldiers, Uncle J.D.!

We are sad we weren’t able to spend this glorious weekend in the rain, sleet, and snow, with our family in the mountains, but we are grateful we were able to spend it doing what we wanted, when we wanted, where we wanted.
