for weddings and graduations! It seems we’ve been bombarded with both. Truly a time of change and joy for so many people. We are lucky to be apart of their lives.
We’ve also also had our own little graduate
Kevin just finished his second year of preschool and is now ready for k4 in the fall. He’s so excited and I’m so excited for him. We learned yesterday that the Spanish Immersion school is filled to the brim and we wont be going there but Kevin is thrilled to be able to ride the school bus to the school in our district. When I told him that the Spanish school was full he said, “That’s okay Mom! I already know a LOT of Spanish words. Now I can learn some English ones!”
Julia finished her first year of preschool. She was SUPER young for preschool but I think she did really well. She definitely worked on her own time frame, but who’s surprised to hear that right?! She loved going and loved being with the big kids. Next year she will be the oldest in preschool which will be a new experience, but I think she will love it!
Julia has a birthday coming up on Tuesday. We just finished her birthday shopping and we are pretty dang excited for the big day!
With school out, summer school is in. We spend about 30 minutes every morning doing a little bit of school work. Our day seems to go MUCH smoother if we start with a little structure. It’s right on for Julia’s level, but we have to push Kevin a little more. He does the same things as her but we add in some math, adding and subtracting, and some sight words.
And Lacey, what about her! Well, she is a gem! She wouldn’t nap the other day so we spent nap time playing on my bed. It was all fun and games until she scratched a big chunk of skin off of my cheek.
And boy does this girl LOVE to eat! I’ve learned to just strip her down before I feed her. It’s much easier to clean up afterward. Most meals end with a rinse in the sink and a new diaper for this girl. Her current favorite is Grapes. If I put an assortment of food on her tray she eats by color. She will pick out all the grapes first then she goes to the brightest food next, strawberries, veggies, and saves her bread or crackers for last. And since she devours her food so quickly, she usually finishes dinner with a 1/2 of an ice cream sandwich which she also LOVES so that everyone else has a chance to eat. And because of her amazing eating, she usually sleeps 12 or so hours every night. It’s heavenly!
Especially when this little beast decides to do the same thing. She is currently sleeping on a mattress on the floor in Kevin’s room (we are on the hunt for bunk beds) and has been sleeping through the night about 70% of the time. It is heaven on earth I tell you. I never realized how much sleep I was missing out on.
Last week Cody was in Kansas City for work meetings for four days. I decided we were going to have ten TONS of fun and not miss him (or at least let him know we were missing him) at all! We packed our days to the hilt. We left our house most mornings by 9. We went to two parks every day.
We played pirates,
doll house,
Kevin had his first golf lesson,
and we had a slumber party with friends.
Needless to say, the week zoomed by and we were SUPER excited to pick Daddy up from the airport. So excited that we all came home and napped for 3 hours. ALL of us! It was LOVELY!
Lately for scriptures study we have been working on memorizing the Articles of Faith. I'm amazed at how well the kids are doing. Kevin has the first four memorized to a T, Julia has the first 3 down and needs a few prompts on the 4th. We are very proud of them and amazed at their ability to memorize as well as understand the meaning behind the Articles of Faith. We hope and pray that as they kids are faced with challenges in their lives that they will remember and lean on the knowledge they have gained through the Articles of Faith.
Anyway- Hopefully soon we will have an announcement on the job front. Cody did not get the three year internship job. We really thought that was an answer to our many prayers, but he has applied for two others and was asked on Friday if he was interested in applying for a position in Mississippi/Louisiana, we have to let them know on Monday. So, there are still a lot of possibilities out there and in the mean time, you will probably find us on our knees in prayer, trying to decide what is best for us.

So, that picture of Julia asleep is PRICELESS! Also-if you guys were to live in Mississippi I would be pretty jealous. I've always wanted to go there/live there.
