We're only a little late posting! :) It's been a crazy week around these parts. Let's get through Halloween, then we'll go there!
For our ward trunk or treat, Kevin went as Mario, Dad as a skeleton, and the girls were all black cats.
Of course it wouldn't be Halloween without over loading on sugar. A sucker is sudden happiness for this little girl!
The kids eating breakfast before school last week. Isn't that the sweetest? Lacey LOVES being involved with whatever the big kids are doing.
A word for the wise- NEVER, and I mean NEVER wait until the day before Halloween to get pumpkins! I really thought I'd be ok, there were two stores selling pumpkins for $2.99 a piece, a rockin' deal! We were waiting for my Mom to come, (the day before Halloween to carve them) so while we were waiting for Dad to get home with her we ran to pick up pumpkins, I paid $18 bucks for the last three pumpkins in the store. INSANE. Luckily we had 18.00 worth of fun carving them!!! Kevin and Julia helped Granny carve hers. They made a bat. Lacey helped me, we made a ghost, and Cody made a scary pumpkin.
It just wouldn't be Halloween without our famous Halloween picture (which is always the cover on our blog books.) Julia's new favorite pose for pictures is one of my favorite things about this picture. The 2nd, is that my Mom is in it. We LOVED having her here.
I've been telling Cody for the last 6 years that he would eventually dress up. Last year I broke him in easy with a skeleton shirt. This year, he was the cowardly lion. When I pulled out the face paint, I had CLEARLY crossed the line!!! Next year! NEXT YEAR!! :)
The kids in our Trick or Treating party. Issac, Lacey, Livie, Julia, and Kevo.
My Mom did our costumes this year.
Lacey- Toto, Me- Dorthy (who obviously wasn't prego, the outfit didn't fit quite right), Cody the lion, Julia the Scarecrow, Kevin opted out and went with power ranger, and my Mom was the Tin Man! Seriously so fun!!! The kids LOVED trick or treating! About an hour into it Kevin started crying cause his pinkie hurt, a sure sign he was exhausted and Julia's bag was too heavy. Cody had already headed home early because Lacey had a cold. So we came home snapped a few quick pics, brushed all that sugar out of those cute little teeth, and everyone was snoozing in minutes! A perfect Halloween success if you ask me!
We loved having Granny here. We didn't do anything too crazy. She mostly worked her hindy off helping us prepare our house for pictures and showings. We found out Tuesday afternoon that we would be having pictures on Wednesday and that our house would list on Friday. Our Realtor called to double check that the time would work, reminding me that I would need to have "ALL THE BEDS MADE!" I think she was surprised to see how clean the house was when she walked in. It glistened and smelled of home made chili for hour party that evening. My Mom was kind enough to run off with the kids for ice cream and to grab the last few Halloween costume needs during pictures. Thursday we patiently waited for pictures of the house and enjoyed lunch with Granny and noodles and Co. It was also my end of the year program for Young Women's t church. We had each of the Mom's spot light their daughters. They asked my Mom last second (like just as it was her turn) to spot light me. Which was really fun to hear. I love having my Mom here and wish that we were closer. During the meeting I got a call from the scheduling company for a showing at 8:30 in the morning and things went hog wild from there.
This girls cold went from gross to awful. So, here's what I Friday looked like!
We were up bright and early (cause Lacey and I never really slept) made the beds, dressed the kids, and were surprised to see a for sell sign in the front yard, we ran out the door at 8. Went to McDonald's for breakfast (it's in Kevin's school parking lot) ate and played for a few minutes before running Kevin across the street for school. Then we rushed off to the doctor for Lacey. We were leaving that evening for St. Paul for my nephew, Hayden's, baby blessing and I didn't want her to infect everyone. At the doctor we learned that she had the early on sets of croup and a possible ear infection coming up. The Doctor explained that most of her pain was probably coming from her throat, it was super red and really inflamed. I told the doctor of our travel plans and she put us on a 5 day antibiotic which starts with a loading dose. Ahh! It made a huge difference and fast. We quickly ran Julia to school 20 minutes late, picked up the script, and then I ran my Mom and Lacey home for Lacey to nap while I ran to get an oil change and pick up Cody from work. I got home a little after 1:00 and my Mom was feeding the kids, Cody hurried and finished up his Dad's Harley that we've had in our garage for the last month, while my Mom and I packed like crazy people and got the house cleaned up. We ran out the door at 3:45, 15 minutes before our next showing. We had 15 showings between Friday morning and Saturday night and one showing on Sunday! We have one family that has walked through a few times and is "thinking about it." We are keeping our fingers crossed!!!
We had an enjoyable time in St. Paul, the first night Lacey only slept for a few hours, which was awful, but the second night we slept like babies and it made up for it. The baby blessing was beautiful, and as always it was so sad telling my Mom bye. My kids were under the impression that JD would be bringing Granny back to our house in a few days and after that was cleared up we had quite a few tears in the car. Lucky for us, she will be back in April and we just can't wait!!!
We find out on Nov. 19, what kind of baby we are having and we are so excited!!! :)
On Friday on our way to St. Paul, Cody's Grandpa Gray passed away. As awful as it is, we are very happy that he is no longer in pain. Cody checked plane tickets that night and was able to get him one for an unheard of rate. He quickly booked his ticket and an hour later when we decided to all go, they are no where to be found. :( I'm super bummed. It would have been nice to all go together, but I'm glad Cody is able to go.
It has been a crazy, eventful week, and I better run before the mac n cheese over cooks (that's what my kids begged for for breakfast!) but there is no denying...
We are blessed and we know it!
