Acadia National Park

Our Memorial weekend trip will go down in the books as a huge success. We traveled first to Bangor Maine where Cody had to work. It was supposed to be a quicky, but as our luck would have it, Cody got tied up with an angry customer and his one hour turned into six. The kids and I spent two of those hours swimming. Elena knew exactly what the goggles were for and had no problem dipping her face in the pool. Lacey loved Elena's baby floating chair, which worked out lovely because Elena didn't like being confined. Kevin practiced diving under water to retrieve his torpedoes and Julia spent her time going between the hot tub And regular pool. It was a success, I put on my big girl pants and actually went into the water. (Hotel pools just aren't my thing!) my kids were as shocked as I was and we all had a ball. Once Cody got home we had to run to walmart to grab a couple of camping things and then we promised the kids a park. When we pulled up to a park without toys Kevin had a break down. Little did they know tucked into my purse were airplanes for everyone. It was probably the second most loved event of our entire trip and it was something we could have done in our own yard for $5!!! The kids were itching to get to our camping spot. The next morning we left right after breakfast and pulled in at 11:21, only to have the camp ranger say, "check in isn't until noon. We will begin that process in 39 minutes if you would pull around." At noon us and the five cars that were there before lined back up, we were car number six. We did NOT get checked in until 1:30. No joke!!! It was awful. Not to mention, my husband and kids learned at about the same time that they would be camping without any cell service or wifi for three days and two nights, they weren't too happy! None the less, we made it and it was the beginning of a super fun weekend. Julia received her knife safety course,  and was given her first pocket knife. Her and Kevin spent several hours whittling sticks. We hiked the bottom half of Cadillac Mountain. Cody really wanted to go the whole way. I'm sure Kevin could have made it fine, but Lacey was done after 1.5 miles. She was a trooper though, some parts of the trail were difficult for me to navigate, but this girl talked my ear off the whole time and kept at it. Near the beginning of the trail we saw a wicked awesome tree and I said, "my mother would love that tree!" The whole rest of the hike Lacey would say, "oh, I bet your mother would love that rock." "Oh I bet your mother would love this stick!" "Oh I bet your mother would love....." She's too funny. The next morning we were up early, thank you 4:50 am sunrise! And we were at the boat docks by 9 am in Bar Harbor. We surprised the kids with a seal spotting,  lobster fishing, eagle nest looking, light house learning, tour. It was super cold, but sooo interesting and fun. A few days later Lacey told one of our friends, "did you know lobsters have teeth in their belly?"  That evening we enjoyed a few quiet walks around camp and an early bedtime. The next morning we were up at the same time and had camp put away by 8:30 and were on the beach a few minutes later. We attempted some jumping pictures. Cody ventured into the freezing water, and Kevin found his first sand dollar.  As you can tell from the last photo, the trip was a success!!! #weareblessedandweknowit
